Fridays are my favorites

I mean, besides the weekend days of course. I think I’ve probably post that before, but it’s worth mentioning a second time (or third, etc).

Let’s get this Friday started..
Friday Funnies
I enjoy the quirkiness of Non Sequitur… and yesterday’s comic was hilarious.

Bargain Alerts:

Peyton Manning celebrates his birthday as the host of SNL!
I haven’t watched a live airing of SNL in ages, this one I will be watching.
I watched the IU vs. Northwestern game the other day… that was more thrilling than it needed to be. It was cool to see Wilmont break the IU 3 point record in a game though.

Haffey sent me a nice link on how to optimize your computer, whether you are running Vista or XP. Check it out. Thanks Haffey.

Have you subscribed?

Noticing how sporadic my updates here are? lol This is where subscribing using the “Subscribe now” section on the right will help you out.. get notified using your preferred method when updates are made.

I think the feature stuff is fun, as it gives me extra motivation to post on the days where I have a specific feature… like Tips and Tricks or Friday Funnies. So I’m going to add one for Thursdays:

This day in history
This should be a fun feature… I will put things things in this feature that happened within the last week that were of historical interest and/or humorous interest. For the first installment we’ll stay on the serious side, but definitely interesting. On this day in 1692, the Salem Witch Trials began. There is a lot of interesting reading at that link, with a ton of external links if you really wanted to dig in to the subject.

On to techie stuff… Real time traffic updates with Google Maps? Very cool.
Adobe is looking at releasing a web version of Photoshop… I’ll be interested to see how they handle the access/licensing but this really is the direction a ton of software and services are going.

Have a CVS in your area? Slickdeals is reporting a deal from them for 30 free digital prints. Awesome.

I try normally not to embed videos on consecutive days but this is an amazing piece of hardware and I’ve watched the video about 4 times myself already.

Late entry: So as a parent, stories about daycare tend to catch my eye… This story on MSNBC is very interesting and a bit worrisome. I think we were very lucky to find such a GREAT daycare when we lived in Nebraska. After moving to Indiana our first daycare experience was horrible but have again been lucky that we were able to move him to the daycare where I work. It’s an amazing daycare available for us to use and it keeps Carson close to me as well. I hope that other parents have all the luck we’ve had and none of the horrible experience.

Number sixty one…

So yea, creative juices not flowing in the title department… sorry.

Anyway, on with the stuffs! So, the Borat movie (which I haven’t seen) did something interesting with their DVD release and because of the humor involved here I might actually make the effort to watch it. In general though, I find that type of humor a bit outside of my tastes… we’ll see, maybe I’ll do a movie review on here.

Are you a Network Admin? Aspire to go into that field? Want to be as terrible as possible? Here are some great tips. I laughed quite a bit at this, thanks Haffey for the link.
Ever heard of Despair.com? You know those motivational posters in a lot of offices? Well this place makes the evil equivalent of that… and they are hilarious.

Another Haffey link!! Large denominations of US money… cool stuff and potential useless trivia tidbit.

LIFE CHANGING TIPS AND TRICKS!!!!
Holy crap! I just spilled an entire picture of iced tea into my laptop! Let the healing begin.

Football story time! Here’s the 2007 NFL Mock Draft, by Scouts, Inc. Story about the NFL Combine and it’s future in Indy.. little tidbits about the new stadium too.

Alright, I found a great list of spoilers.. from movies to tv to historical events. It is very funny.. and dang you Haffey for providing it too. GET BACK TO WORK!

I leave you with Rainn Wilson’s (Dwight) monologue from SNL… it was really good.

Two-For Tuesday!

So I already posted once today, but it’s all Blog Update stuff so I thought I would do a separate post for my normal stuff.

Adobe has released a compatibility list of their products and whether they work with Vista. How Adobe Products Support Windows Vista pdf
Speaking of Vista, check out this cool new gadget for your sidebar. Finding this led me to poke around with some of the other gadgets, there are quite a few really good ones out there currently, and new ones all the time.

Alright, Colts Updates:
Dungy will be back next year…. awesome. Also, Dwight Freeney picks up the franchise tags. Those not up on football lingo, this is what franchise tags means.

OH! And the latest Simpsons Movie Trailer:

Quick notes

I’ve finally gotten over my cold (mostly), now it seems Jenni and Carson might be coming down with it… which sucks because they’ll probably give it back to me. 🙁

According to Download Squad, Gmail is now available to everyone! If you go through whatever steps to get an account and it doesn’t work, just let me know and I’ll send you an invite. I think I have 90 some odd invites.

SlickDeals comes up big with a link to a $5.99 DVD sale. Wooooo!

Espn featured a story about a Bears fan that lost a bet and now has to change his name. It’s funny and sad at the same time.

Been really busy lately… sorry about the lack of updates. I think I may have some pictures just sitting on my camera too. I should check into that.. heh.

Vista launches, Woot-Off in progress

Yes, your dreams have come true… there is a Woot-Off today. Go get some goodies on the cheap.

Microsoft’s commercial launch of Windows Vista is today… Win yourself a copy of the Ultimate edition here. I’ve been using the Enterprise version for a few months and it’s pretty nice if you have the hardware to take advantage of you. Looks like Yahoo’s widgets will play nice as well.

Might put up some more later, as news releases roll in.

HAHA… an automated parking garage. I’m still holding out from my jetpack. See following video for reference.
Bill Gates on the Daily Show…

In case I haven’t mentioned it, I am in the Alpha of Trillian Astra. I joined in at build 26 and we are now at build 28. I’m really liking the direction they are going and the second build is a lot more stable and had new features added. I have been dabbling in beta testing a lot lately and it’s been really fun. Here’s a shot of my desktop with Trillian running and 4 chat containers with 9 chat buddies in them.

From Various Stuff

Last link of the day… Engadget does a round-up of the Vista reviews.

Here comes the weekend

Man, it feels like this has been the longest week all year… oh, wait. 🙂 Carson starts his swimming class tomorrow and he is really excited. Mom made some chocolate cake and brought it over last night, was delicious.

Friday Funnies
I’ve always like Speed Bump.. and todays I found especially funny.

The Colts are ramped up for this weekend and so am I. Let’s hope the defense has a decent day and the offense has an awesome day. I know that would make my weekend.

Cool video of iPhone:

Big Ten embarassment

Wow, just wow…. Kudos to Florida for playing a flawless game though.

Patch Tuesday has landed, so the rest of this will be brief BUT there are a few things to note that are awesometacular (yes, I just made up that word).

AppleTV – for $299 you get a crapload of AWESOME features that brings the content from your computer over to your TV. I’m really pondering getting one of these.

iPhone lives – it’s real, it’s spectacular, I want one VERY BADLY, and it will break the bank ($599)… but in their defense, there is NOTHING on the market that even comes close to touching this thing.

Ok, so back to patching and stuff.

Tweaked

So I slightly changed the look of the blog.. it was a little too “caffeinated” with those other colors. I also added another site to my link list, Paul Thurrott’s blog, he runs the SuperSite for Windows which is a great Windows resource. I am very much enjoying his weekly podcast from Twit.TV with Leo LaPorte. Another of my favorites from Twit is Security Now with Steve Gibson… both are really great programs, I would recommend you listen if you have the interest in either topic.

Saw a great list of facts and ficitons from Wired… interesting to say the least.

I love this, I really do…. hahahahahaha

What?

Soooo, Wednesday eh? Well, I don’t have much today so let’s get started.

Microsoft released their first commercial for Windows Vista… I’m going to have to agree with the review, it is pretty boring. ho hum.

Carson and I got haircuts last night… I tend to take Carson to CookieCutters here because they have a slide, let kids watch a show while getting buzzed, and they let them sit on neat ride-on vehicles instead of normal barber chairs. Like this:

From Carson Candids

If you click on the album for that photo, you’ll see I added a new album there called Carson Candids… I’ll drop random photos of Carson in there from time to time that I really like.

LIFE CHANGING TIPS AND TRICKS!!!!
This is a great tip for most everyone that has some amount of computing going on at home… How to improve your WiFi reception.

Ooooh! Halo 3 TV commercial looks very cool…
