I’ve converted from WordPress commenting to Facebook commenting on my blog. This does two things; 1. Spammer control 2. People won’t have to register to share comments with me. Let me know if you have any issues commenting, I want to make sure I’m getting your messages.
I look forward to having conversations with all of you!
I had an eye exam a week or so ago… turns out it’s possible glasses could make some of my headaches go away (long days at the computer). After checking out the cost (I have vision coverage because Jenni and Carson need glasses), I decided that it was worth a shot.
Here’s a pic of me right after I got them:
I’m on Day 2 now. I’ve found I don’t like driving with them on as I feel like I’m wearing blinders. I do like how my monitors look through them. I’m making a conscious effort to wearing them as much as possible. I got very light frames so they would be comfortable. Time will tell.
One more topic I wanted to cover today was the SEVERE lack of photo updates… our South Carolina trip this past summer has been stuck at the front of my log jam of photo updates. To guarantee I do those I’ve vowed not to let other things line jump… now, a few things have slipped through but I’m going to stick to my guns as best I can. Those are about 98% done, I just need to carve out about an hour to finish and send the huge set up to the photo site. Once they are done, I’ll try to write a blog post up about our whole trip. Also, when those are up.. expect a flood of other photo updates following it. I hope to be up to date before Spring.
I’m going to spend some time the next week or so looking at ways to better keep this blog updated. It’s too easy to fall behind a little bit and then the crushing weight of the volume of stuff to catch up with makes it easier to not update.
Here’s a photo of Carson playing goalie this past weekend. 🙂
I’ve added a twitter feed to my site on the right column there… and hopefully my flash status thing at the top of the page will start working again.
COLTS WIN!! Comfortably to boot, it was a double blessing. I’m thinking of inviting people over for next weeks game against the Lions, hit me up if you have interest.
I’m in the process of deciding whether to move to SmugMug from PicasaWeb. PicasaWeb has been great and no matter what I’ll continue using Picasa on my computer and most likely continue with their free storage but for the money I spend I want more. I have 25+gb of photos/videos, it’s about 20,000 files in 500ish folders. The flat structure of PicasaWeb does not handle it well (and I could only house about 50-60% of my items there). I started using SmugMug a few days ago to just check it out, I kind of got into it and was doing a lot of customizations as well as uploading a bunch of photos. That’s when I found that I was missing some original photos I had taken and/or scanned over the years. This is exactly the kind of problem only being able to house a portion of your pictures online can cause, luckily some of the pictures I had online but they were reduced quality because of space limitations. SmugMug has no space limitation, so another point for them there. I’ll be making the final decision sometime this week, but if you’ve read this far you have probably picked up my inclination so far. My PicasaWeb link is on the right (I’ve stripped it down to be under the 1gb free limit) and contact me if you want my SmugMug link… in case you want to give input, which I welcome.
How about some Haffey’s Links??? It’s been quite sometime since I’ve dumped some of these on you, so let me crack open Ye Olde Dusty Google Notebook to share some gems with you:
The 5 greatest office pranks of all-time, definitely a couple good ones in there. I still like the cube-taped-shut-and-filled-with-packing-peanuts gag best, myself.
Extremely expensive gadgets? If you’re buyin’, I could go for the 103″ TV… let me if you need my shipping address
Weirdest Accidents, Part 4… Do not fear, parts 1, 2, and 3 are linked from there so you can catch up. Some truly strange vehicular after accident photos, nothing gross
This is my 200th post on my blog, I had hoped to have a bunch of links and videos to celebrate but I’m exhausted. Maybe at 250 I’ll do the celebrate thing. 😉
I’ve changed the domain name over… since I have a busy weekend ahead of me I went ahead and did the switchover today. I’m going to forward the old address over to the new one, this means that http://blog.jujuby.com will redirect you to the new address of http://blog.thomasflock.com . If you bookmarked the old address please update it when you have time. If you subscribe it should automatically adjust the links… old feed information will have bad links.Feed information is auto-updated, old and new.
I’m going to adjust the look of my blog sometime today as well… change is good.
Soon jujuby.com will expire.. I’ve decided not to renew it and have instead acquired thomasflock.com. Any place you would’ve used .jujuby.com will be switched to .thomasflock.com sometime this weekend. Anyone interested in the name .jujuby.com should contact me before July 1rst, 2007.
Thanks. Regular blog update to follow later today or early tomorrow. 🙂
Noticing how sporadic my updates here are? lol This is where subscribing using the “Subscribe now” section on the right will help you out.. get notified using your preferred method when updates are made.
I think the feature stuff is fun, as it gives me extra motivation to post on the days where I have a specific feature… like Tips and Tricks or Friday Funnies. So I’m going to add one for Thursdays:
This day in history This should be a fun feature… I will put things things in this feature that happened within the last week that were of historical interest and/or humorous interest. For the first installment we’ll stay on the serious side, but definitely interesting. On this day in 1692, the Salem Witch Trials began. There is a lot of interesting reading at that link, with a ton of external links if you really wanted to dig in to the subject.
On to techie stuff… Real time traffic updates with Google Maps? Very cool. Adobe is looking at releasing a web version of Photoshop… I’ll be interested to see how they handle the access/licensing but this really is the direction a ton of software and services are going.
Have a CVS in your area? Slickdeals is reporting a deal from them for 30 free digital prints. Awesome.
I try normally not to embed videos on consecutive days but this is an amazing piece of hardware and I’ve watched the video about 4 times myself already.
Late entry: So as a parent, stories about daycare tend to catch my eye… This story on MSNBC is very interesting and a bit worrisome. I think we were very lucky to find such a GREAT daycare when we lived in Nebraska. After moving to Indiana our first daycare experience was horrible but have again been lucky that we were able to move him to the daycare where I work. It’s an amazing daycare available for us to use and it keeps Carson close to me as well. I hope that other parents have all the luck we’ve had and none of the horrible experience.
